Mia Orfeo is a blue woman and is a minor player in finding a cure for reds who had been victims of Project Jamboree. She is the younger sister of Lucas Orfeo, and was one of Sam's childhood friends. She co-founded Greenwood, and always played the evil witch in the trio's stories and is one of the man survivors pulled from Black Rock.

Biography[]

Early life[]

After their parents lost their house due to the economy, the family moves into their car and starts traveling in their car. Lucas's abilities appeared, none of the family really cared and they took precautions so that Lucas's destructive abilities couldn't spread very far.

Someone would try to rob the Ofero's car, and when they spotted the kids shot and murdered the Ofero's parents. The kids would be picked up and separated, since Lucas was a red, and Mia was a blank. Mia was shipped to Black Rock since it was the only camp allowed to keep blanks on their property. She was put in the blank building on the property, and while she didn't like it, she wasn't mistreated like the non-blank prisoners in the camp. She was given the ID number 6575. She was happy when the doctors and scientists played music.

She would gain her blue abilities when she turned ten years and once she was shipped to the blue building. She was disappointed by the hard work she would have to do and was also sad that no music was allowed anywhere other than the blank housing building. She would regret using her abilities in the incident in which she was discovered, since blanks were treated much better than all of the other psi groups.

Beyond The Night[]

Black Rock was taken by UN forces years after its creation, and weeks after Thurmond was taken. The soldiers arrivals confused the kids, since none of them really trusted soldiers, and their camp controllers had attempted to burn the camp down. All of the Black Rock kids were shipped to a hotel for someone to claim them. Mia's only surviving family member Lucas could not legally take her, since his time in Project Jamboree had left him mentally unable to care for not only himself, but anyone else.

Samantha Dahl, a childhood friend who hadn't been claimed either, goes instead and she drives Mia to the house she broke into and temporarily claimed, where Lucas currently is. Mia tries to hug Lucas when she sees her older brother, but he shoves her back. Mia yells at Sam for harshly ordering Lucas to eat and locks herself in one of the bedrooms. She comes out a while later when she hears Sam singing to Lucas, trying to get him to respond. Sam and Mia apologize to each other and Sam promises she'll find a way to fix him.

When Sam goes out to get some food, Mia tells Lucas about their parents, which sparks a rage in him and he tries to hurt her. Instead of backing down, she starts to tell him stories of Greenwood and the stories he used to write. When she's done telling the story, she notices that Lucas is looking at her, not through her.

When Sam gets back from getting food, Mia tells her idea about taking Lucas to Greenwood. Sam is skeptical, but they don't have time to finish the conversation because Bounty Hunters barge in on them. They take Sam and Mia but somehow miss Lucas. Right before Sam is driven away, Lucas walks out and sets fire to the neighborhood in a act to defend himself.

Before he has the chance to kill them all, Sam runs to him, her hand tied, and throws her arms around his neck and down to his shoulders. Lucas screams and tries to throw her off, but she holds onto him like a vise. Finally, Lucas falls unconscious and the Bounty Hunters run away before a truck can explode.

Non-American officers rush to the scene and ID Sam and Mia, but they can't ID Lucas because the Trainers wiped their files on the Reds before the Rebellion came. The Non-Americans make a call and they realize he is a Red. Sam, Mia and Lucas are loaded into an ambulance, Lucas unconscious with IV drips.

When Sam and Mia awake, Lucas is gone. They are taken to a office building in Zone 1, where Mia flies a pen into the glass separating them from the officers with her Blue abilities. Vida shows up and break them out with her badge. She takes them to the van, where Ruby, Liam and Chubs are. Ruby and Sam embrace and Sam tells her about Lucas. They set off to find him with a reluctant Liam. They successfully find Lucas in a safe house, close to death. Mia tells the gang about her idea about Greenwood and how it might be a good idea to bring him there. The gang agrees and they drive to Bedford, the town where Sam, Lucas and Mia lived before the IAAN outbreak.

In Mia and Lucas' old house, Lucas wakes up amid Liam and Chubs carrying him in. He sets fire to to a family picture on the wall. Mia runs out at the sight of her brother so mean and different. She walks to the treehouse in her overgrown yard, that is somehow still intact. She climbs up the tree and into the little house. She marvels at how any of them, let alone Lucas, was able to stand to their full height in it. She finds the books and the old carpet they decorated the place with.

Liam walks up and claims he wants to know how it was built, so that he could build one for his own children one day. He apologizes to Mia in the treehouse and says that he's just worried about Ruby and the bounty on her head, which is his fault. They talk about Cole and compare him and Lucas, and how they have something in common because they're brothers were/are Reds. Sam finds them and says Ruby is ready to begin on Lucas.

In the house, Mia starts reading the story Lucas wrote when he was eleven, and Ruby goes into his mind and starts to get to him where he's hiding. At the end of the story Mia is unable to finish because of the realization that Lucas still hasn't woken. But then he says the line. Shocked and to scared to believe that he may be okay, Mia leans over to see Lucas looking up at her telling her that she has to tell it right. He notices Sam sitting beside her and starts to panic, but she presses his hand to her cheek and says that they made it and they're okay now.

He sits up and hugs Mia, finally back to himself. After all, he risked everything to try and get him and Sam out of Thurmond to find Mia, and now they are all together once more.

In the end, Mia follows Sam and Lucas to the facilities housing Reds where they fix them and try to get them back to normal.
