Orange is the color classification of any telepathic psi. They are the fifth most common psi race, and their abilities could mostly be restrained by handcuffs and muzzles. Orange abilities were difficult for the untrained to control, but once they were trained their abilities were easy enough to control. Oranges usually needed another orange to explain how their abilities worked. Oranges were usually pretty violent, and PSF's and Skip-Tracers usually found them really difficult to control. Because of their abilities, oranges could usually resist other oranges interference. When President Gray had the camps segregated by color, a handful of orange's were sent to Leda Corp's holdings for further experimentation, but the vast majority were killed in buried in mass graves outside of their camps. Oranges captured after the order were usually killed.

The effectiveness of the oranges abilities seems to depend greatly on the individual an orange attempts to influence. Oranges in general have the capability to resist or block mental invasions, although the specifics vary, and the ability to do so generally comes with practice. Non-orange individuals generally cannot resist the influence of a orange's abilities, but there are cases of people being resistant or even completely immune- particularly, as it is implied, among reds. The amount of control an orange has over another person depends on their relationship with that person. Their emotions also played a huge factor in deciding how effective their abilities work. When calm a orange can more easily get someone do what they want, like when Clancy convinces people to do what he wants. If someone is more emotional when using their abilities, the outcomes of an orange using their abilities could be devastating, like with Ruby accidentally erasing her parents and friends memories of her when couldn't control her powers. Oranges are typically driven somewhat mad with with the strength of their abilities, and their lust for blood, as seen when- at the end of book one- when Martin’s memory of a mission he took part in while with the League was revealed. Another great example would be Clancy Gray just… generally being himself.
