About the Darkest Minds Trilogy
The Darkest Minds is a dystopian trilogy based in a world where diease called Idiopathic Adolescent Acute Neurodegeneration or IAAN for short has killed off a large quantity children between the ages of 8 and 14 years old. Children all over the country started dying from this diease, killing nearly 98% of all children. Those children who were lucky enough to survive, didn't escape completely unscathed. They all began to manifest some sort abilities called "Psi".Children that have this "Psi" ability are assigned a colour that matches their specific power Green heightened intelligence, Blue the ability to control objects, Yellow signifies the power to conduct and create electricity and then there are two powers that are considered extremely dangerous Orange and Red. These powers are seen are uncontrollable by the goverment and are exterminated instantly. Oranges have the power to control and manipulate the mind causing others to act against their will, think differently and have other concequences that are present in the book. Red's however have the power of fire and can be extremely hard to control when in their element.
Ruby, the main protagonist, is one of the surviving children and on her tenth birthday is took away to a "rehabilitation camp" called Thurmond and stays in the camp for six years. She has no knowledge of what has happened to the country in the years she has been there and only knows that she has to do exactly what she is told to survive. Her only motivation is has to keep her secret. No one can know what she truly is, or else they could get hurt. She needed to protect them more than herself. When an anti-government organization called The Children’s League breaks her out of Thurmond, she soon realizes that not everything is as it seems. The world is a lot more complicated than she thought it was, and she quickly finds herself on the run with another group of kids who have managed to escape from their own camp. After a series of event Ruby finds herself in tough situations, mentally challenging problems and unlikey friendships. penis :)
